“No matter what language we speak, what colour we are,
the form of our politics or the expression of our love
and faith, music proves: We are the same.” John Denver
Drumheller, AB, May 11, 2016 - The Calgary Educational Partnerships Foundation presented a cheque to choir leader, Mr. Alex Chung, and representatives of the Greentree School Division Two Choir.
The partnership between the Lodge and choir began when Mr. Chung wanted performance experience for the choir before the Drumheller Music Festival Competition. The thought was that performing for the local seniors would not only be of benefit to the choir but also prove to enhance a continuing connection with the Sunshine Lodge residents. Greentree School is very active with Community Service Projects, and classes often connect with the local Seniors Lodge. In addition to the Division Two choir, Greentree School also offers a Division One choir, a ukulele club and a recorder club led by dedicated and talented teachers.
The members of Greentree School Choir have shown a great interest in performing and are pleased that what they love to do is having an impact in the school and Drumheller community. The money received from CEPF will allow our Division 2 Choir to make frequent visits to the Lodge, as well purchase resources. A future endeavor is a joint student and senior field trip to a music performance. The money received will contribute financially to the success of this project.
Greentree School is very proud of our strong community connections, and we are pleased to be able to enhance both our music program, and our amazing connections with the Senior’s Lodge.
“Music is a universal connection and transcends generations.
The Calgary Educational Partnership Foundation is very excited
to support this project at Greentree School” says Din Ladak,
President and CEO of the Foundation.
